Owl Messenger
aloft on soft wings,
messenger in darkness, light
of knowledge she brings
push back shades of night
before ignorance and hate
smother brilliant sight

I thought that must be a photoshopped image. I was surprised to read that it's a photo of two owls in a zoo in Jordan. Still, they are gorgeous.
Those eyes peer from zoo
No sky holds their free wing flight
Hunt is ancient dream
Aloft on nocturnal currents
Silent in a moonlit sky
Prey screams to talons' thrust.
amazing photo! I think your poetry fit it well. so otherworldy and yet wise the owl seems. haven't seen one myself in quite some time, although my friends have a little lap dog that was found bleeding one night after they had put it out to pee. the vet said their were definite talon marks! anyway, i liked the words :)
Thanks for adding your haiku to mine poor attempt, RD and James. Dr. Charles is too kind to say that he liked my words (I think it was silly haiku, but I guess that's alright; if I can't be silly on my own blog, where can I be silly?)
